About Your Other Hands

Your Other Hands began in 1988 when owner, Suzette Trimmer, was pregnant with her first child and was looking for a nanny. She interviewed countless people and learned a lot about what to look for in a person's character, background, etc. The most important thing that was realized, though, is that what they say about a woman is true. She listened to her inner voice to help choose good quality people. Basically she just fell into the business.

The business grew from a young mother and a few workers to a staff of over 200 nannies. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days per week. There is also a staff of five women who vigorously check the references of the nannies and the families.


Suzette determined that all employees must be at least 18 years of age and have three recent childcare references. Each reference is checked. A criminal background check is performed on each employee. Interviews are only conducted one week per month. Out of twenty people only two people make the final cut.

Families are screened as well. Your Other Hands has a reputation of making sure that the nannies are treated well and respected as professional child care providers. People cannot take advantage of the babysitters. If a family wants one-on-one child care they cannot expect the nanny to do all of the household chores as well. Mothers need to know that if they cannot do everything on one day a nanny will not be able to accomplish all of these tasks either. each family is required to fill out an application.


It is important for us to know where they work and if they can afford to hire a nanny. Employers are contacted to verify. A family doctor is also contacted to check the medical status of the children to be cared for.
